in the video the zoom range stops at 138mm, but I have the impression that it is "truncated" deliberately so as not to reveal the real focal length.
Let's hope it is so. And hope the rumour about 170mm is true or even longer and not the 138mm The video did show the lens not fully retract. Nice!! We have hope!

Sounds promising. I'm more excited about the announcement this time around.

Lets see how long they take to release after announcement since US and mainland China aren't getting these phones |

I doubt super wide and periscope are LYT600 and LYT500. Sony like to have same resolution across all cameras, they explained that couple years ago. Why using 12+ 12.5 + 12.5? I dont buy this story. If they drop 563/650, then I would bet on dual 858. There was rumor for mark 4 that they tested 455 for periscope, it is main cam of mark 1, so 1/2.5" is not impossible while keeping current size. |

Wish sony still packaged earphones with the phones specially now that they have a headphone jack they should have put hi-res earphones with them. Checked out some of their available headphones the last affordable hi res earphones they made were h.ear in 2 which have been discontinued in most of the world and their widely available earphones top out at mdr ex 650ap which aren't hi-res, the cheapest hi res earphones that are widely available are xbaz5 which will set you back an average $700 like half the phone's price. Tws are good but they just can't match the sound of wired earphones. Heck your regular earphones which are usually half the price of tws will sound better than many "hi-res" certified earphones |

The cheapest reliable hi-res earphone I can think of is FiiO Jade Audio JD1. But I doubt SONY will making a hi-res earphone that cheap.

They're really confident that the zoom will be the deal maker this time.

If this doesn't boost 1V sales nothing will Xperia 1 die hards have very little to look forward on this phone besides the beautiful design evolution. Here is why, new camera app and camera experience in general.
I couldn't care less about the display, have no clue what's up with the brightness and LTPO obsession over resolution but lower resolution will improve battery life. Again, I couldn't care less about battery life as both my PRO-I and 1IV last me throughout the whole day with both moderate BT audio and camera usage.
New camera app PRO mode has nerfed bunch of features you could find in Photo Pro and Video Pro. I got the screenshots of it and it's very dumb. They are distancing from vloging so focus was not on video improvements at all. Honestly, I can't wait to see if they got rid of the micro jitter on telephoto when filming since this phone is all about telephoto race with other manufacturers and Vivi X100 Ultimate just got released.
Anyway, if you are power video user like me, and you have used both Video Pro and Cinema Pro you will be super disappointed with lack of video features in new app. I think I will grab one more 1IV and silver 1V just to have it for as a spare. Hopefully future 1VI users will be able to install Video/Cinema Pro apps without much hustle.

Here is one additional info from former Pro app developer: Display is indeed FHD+ resolution in lower end of 400dpi spectrum and the reason why it's not QHD is because Samsung doesn't offer them in 1440p for such a small diagonal size (maybe for such small order quantity). Display is super high quality, its hardware customized by Sony so it's not all ODM like Chinese brands order. In my opinion this sounds like another expensive display, so I guess all those cost cutting rumors were not quite true. |
